Information Technology

Welcome to the W4DXR technology lab. My computing projects are split across two very different eras of hardware and networking:

Server Room

Modern infrastructure and home lab operations. This includes my Proxmox virtualization environment, OPNsense firewall routing, OS2 fiber optic deployments, TP-Link Omada SDN wireless access points, Nginx reverse proxies, and managing Tailscale remote access for services like Jellyfin.

Vintage Computing

Restoring, building, and configuring late-1990s PC hardware. This section covers Windows 9x, DOS gaming, AGP/PCI compatibility, and emulating classic environments via 86Box.

Sustainable Computing & E-Waste

Examining the environmental impact of forced hardware obsolescence-using Windows 11 system requirements as a case study and how lightweight open-source operating systems like Linux and FreeBSD save millions of computers from landfills.
